Abdominal Massage encourages the vital organs to function better. It tones and strengthens the muscles located in your abdomen and helps your digestive system tremendously.
Swedish Massage is relaxing, usually incorporating light to medium pressure and various strokes, including effleurage, compression, petrissage, friction and many more techniques.
Deep Tissue Massage
As its name implies, this technique is used to manipulate the deep tissue. Employing moderate-to-hard pressure, I may use elbows, knuckles, forearms and fingers to penetrate deeper into the muscle to help with tension release.
Trigger Point is another technique that I commonly use and pair with deep tissue work. Together we will find specific points on the body that may trigger a referral response in other areas of your body. Clearing the blockages along these pathways will help to elicit a more profound release.
Polarity Therapy seeks to connect the full spectrum of body, mind and spirit. This technique allows the body to function as it was designed by nature and helps it heal itself. Polarity Therapy asserts that the flow and balance of energy in the human body is the foundation of good health. In the Polarity model, health is experienced when energy systems function in their natural state, and flow smoothly without significant blockage or fixation. I will often incorporate this at the end of a session to further balance an individual.
This incorporates basic massage techniques while the mama-to-be is positioned comfortably on her back or side with cushions. This positioning is also helpful when working with individuals who are dealing with surgery, discomfort or injury, and cannot lie face down on my table.
A technique that is gaining popularity, Sports Massage helps treat muscle tension, muscle injury and tissue dysfunction and improves neuromuscular coordination. This massage incorporates stretching, deep tissue and is site specific.
This is a technique of manipulating connective tissue using friction, cross-hand stretches and vertical stretches to loosen the body.s connective tissue, which helps the body relax on a deeper level.
Kinesiology — the study of movement — gives me something like a roadmap of the human body to navigate around your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones. Knowing how these systems operate allows me to give an effective, safe massage to elderly patients, professional athletes, weekend warriors, and even small children. Ligaments tie bones together. Tendons anchor muscles to bones. Neither ligaments nor tendons can heal on their own, so Kinesiology and massage therapy work on the remaining tissue group, the muscles, to provide support and relief. Muscles either stretch or contract. Kinesiology takes advantage of this to provide exercise and stimulation to balance one muscle's stretch with another's contraction.
